Player profile - Frank Giambagno

Arguably the most improved golfer from 2009 is none other than Frank "BC" Giambagno. His stellar play in the later part of last season propelled him into Serie A and he's looking forward to competing against his former coach Dr. Robert Ventresca and reigning Mazza Champion. When asked to comment on his achievement he had this to say, "I really couldn't give a rat's ass! For me it's all about the camaraderie. Golf is my escape and I'm looking forward to another exciting season.  But who is going to keep Mario's score?".

The scouting report on Frank's game is very vague. Much like Tiger Woods he's kept a low profile as of late and has chosen to keep his comments reserved on the state of his game today. Could he be in top form as he ended 2009 or has he regressed to a more predictable level of play, we'll soon find out.  With ipod in tow, Frank plans to board the plan with a clear mind and scorecard.

What he plans to fill it with is up to him.  We will be watching and waiting for the result.  Is this the year that the fourth seed in Serie A finally takes home the coveted trophy?  Or will he choke just so he doesn't have to carry the case home.

Hit em straight Frank.  We are all rooting for you!!

Player Profile - Mario "Commissioner" Masellis

"Watch out for low hanging fruit"

Some people use the phrase Maestro, some say coordinator, some even say "Scorche Palle", but he is other wise known as "The commish".

Mario who's fantasy is to be part of the organizing committee for the "Melons are your friend" society has been practicing his Drive for show and putt for dough game. Even though his teacher has put him on the clock to ensure 18 holes can get done in under 8 hours, he has been working diligently on keeping his balls clean all by himself. As a youngster, Mario's passion for the game began at a small cow pasture in Pickering, Ontario. After arriving right on time for his very first professional tournament- The Bosio Open- he began the day with a 20 minute workout on the first tee. This was followed by a 20 minute cool down while looking for his Titleist in the nearby bushes a mere 4 feet away. He is a very social guy and involved a number of individuals to help out with his cool down routine. However the champion he is, he still managed to bring home the trophy at the end of 18.

Mario is a visionary and has a keen sense of thinking. His ambition of being Serie B Champion in 2010 is his first and foremost goal in life. His other main ambitioni s supplying produce company to the people of the GTA. He developed this strategy of success by using his experience as a regular visitor to a well known fine dining establishment. This establishment is visited by thousands of individuals looking for the cuisine that matches no other. One day while sitting down enjoying his dinner, he witnessed a new visitor to this establishment order lettuce on their burger. The owner in his calm and collective voice said no lettuce. At Johnny's we never have lettuce. Mario's eyed widened and his idea was born. However to this day no lettuce is offered at Johnny's. So Mario focussed on Fruit.

As a fierce competitor and fiery rage within him( Road rage that is), Mario is once again considered a favorite for Serie B champion in 2010. When the chips are down you can put all your fruit in one basket and bet the farm that he will be in the top four to win the cup.

Good luck Mario.

Player Profile - Dr. Luis Piedade

Introducing  the newest member of the Mazza Tour, Dr. Luis Piedade.

Qualification was awarded to him after 4 years of Q school in Winnipeg. His part time professional golf career was overshadowed recently by school, marriage, a business and new baby.

Since earning his qualification to participate in the Campione Della Mazza Italiana 2010, this newcomer has been reserved with comments to the media.   "I need more strokes!!", is all that his lawyer has allowed him to say.   Early scouting reports reveal natural athleticism and a fierce competitive edge. He's this year's longshot for taking the B Division championship and is quite happy to be the underdog.   Make no mistake however having never won a professional tournament, just as his beloved Portugese national soccer team, he's hungrier than ever to silence the crowds.

Although Luis makes a living at straightening teeth, what remains to be seen is, can he straighten out his drive and win his first Serie B Mazza Championship.

Good luck Luis!!    Hit em straight.

Player Profile - Dr. Robert Ventresca

U.S. airline security policies revised.

The changes, announced Friday by the  Department of Homeland Security, come after a three-month review of security  at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.  These were ordered directly by President Barack Obama in the awake of what has become the world's Premiere Golf event of the season.

Tensions are growing and security will be at an all time high for the anticipated arrival of the coveted Trophy and the reigning 3 time Champion Robert Ventresca.  After a "tune up" round yesterday in Aurora, Ontario, Robert was looking forward to returning to what has become his favorite stop of the Mazza tour so far; Scottsdale, Arizona.  Robert only heard the famous whistle once off the first tee.   But true to form, he settled down to what has become his signature way of playing golf.  Following a couple of bogeys and double bogeys, this Doctor of Chiropractic Arts quickly adjusted his game and put together a string of pars and was back to the form that we have come to expect.   Important question on everyone's mind is can he repeat?  Serie A has been shaken up a bit.  Return of past champion Robert Bruno and newcomer  dark horse Frank Giambagno will certainly be there to add the pressure that may finally put a crack in this rock solid performer.

Lest we forget Michael Primucci.  Will this finally be the year?  Michael did not choose to play in the warm up round yesterday, but did meet up for drinks to investigate the results.  Like a tiger waiting to pounce on his prey, this Primucci is stalking in the grass.  Looking for the weakness in Ventresca's game that will allow him to finally drink from the Cup.  The good Doctor doesn't think so.  "I have to come to like this Trophy.  I am thinking of buliding a permanent niche in my house.  I am going to play my game and that's  it.  If they think they can keep up, let them saddle up in the desert.  If not, "fuori del campo"!!

Robert Ventresca is licking his lips and ready to whistle ..........Mike is licking his chops and ready to strike.

Stay tuned........

Player Profile - Domenic "Mingooch" Primucci

Domenic Primucci  urges everyone to "taste the difference"!!

Domenic is synonymous with food. Justifiably so considering he has 163 questions before ordering a single thing on any menu when dining out.  It is precisley because of this talent that the "gastronomical guru" has been chosen to head the food and beverage committee.  With 2 major wins in the Campione Della Mazza Italiana Tournament - second only to Jack Nicklaus & Robert Ventresca. However, when you take a closer look, you realize Mingooch is so much more than golf.

After a lacklustre season the reigning Serie B Champion is on a mission.  He wants everyone to "taste the difference".  This single statement has been his calling card both in Pizza advertising and at private parties in Vaughan.

We made several attempts to reach Domenic today, but was unavailable for comment.  Must have been reading all the e-mails regarding the upcoming tournament....NOT.

Naturally, golf, which has not been his livelihood for 24 of his 44 years.  Lately he has been concentrating on being a player agent for the hockey stars of the future.  Hopefully this will not be an excuse for play while in Scottsdale.
We wish the purveyor of Pizza good luck in the latest version of the Campione Della Mazza Italiana.

Note to Domenic..........THE CAR RENTAL IS INCLUDED AND BREAKFAST IS NOT.
